This coming Thursday marks the start of the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round, hosted by the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla. To qualify for the meet, Yale athletes senior captain Kira Garry, junior Shannon McDonnell and sophomore Emily Waligurski ranked in the top 48 competitors in the east region in their respective events. In order to go on to compete at the NCAA DI Championships on June 10-13, they must place in the top 12 this weekend. McDonnell and Waligurski will both compete in first rounds of their events in which the top 24 finishers will qualify to compete in the quarterfinals later in the weekend.
